How To Treat A Broken Arm With Glad Wrap

Before we go to camp we had to learn about first aid. So we decided to make instruction for a broken arm. Every camp group had to get together to decide who would take photos, who would be the nurse and who would be the victim. Here is mine.

Carbon Footprint

I read a book called how big is your footprint ad here is some information I found out about it.

What Is A Carbon Footprint? It is how much greenhouse gas you put into the atmosphere.

What Is Greenhouse Gas?
Greenhouse gas is a gas that goes up into the atmosphere and traps heat in the earth.
You cause greenhouse gasses by using energy, food and water.

How You Can Stop Greenhouse Gasses.
  • Don't  leave appliances on standby.
  • Make a compost pile.
  • Get a pig bucket.
  • Make a worm farm.
  • Turn off running taps.
  • Turn off the TV when your not using it.
  • Turn off lights when you’re not in the room.
  • Eat less meat.
  • Don’t waste water.
  • Buy energy efficient appliances.

This Is How My Family Stops Greenhouse Gasses!
  • While I brush my teeth I turn the tap off.
  • We put our rubbish into recycling bin.
  • We brought an energy saving TV.
  • We don't use a clothes dryer.
  • I turn of the plug when I’m not charging my computer.

John Roil

John Roil came over to our class and talked to us about hiking and camping. He used to be in the army and he goes hunting a lot. Here are some things you have to do while camping.

Before you go tell someone where you are going and show them the map. Make sure you have broken in shoes you can fit and something to contact people with for an emergency.

Also train. You need to be strong, be able to swim and have lots of energy. If you don’t you might drown, collapse or fall.

You will need water and food. Big woolen socks. The wool wet is 70% warmer than it is dry. If you are camping you need extra clothes and a tent. You will also need a sleeping pad, sleeping bag and a bivie bag. A torch and batteries. For the food you will need a gas bottle and a lighter.

You will need a first aid kit. In your first aid it you should have Medicine or pills for a condition, scissors and a bandage. And also pack some plaster and some cream. If you have a group make sure you know their allergies and weaknesses. Also know what the plants can do to you and take the right medical supplies incase you encounter them.

So you know where you're going take a map, compass or a GPS. If you forget to bring these use moss, sun and spider webs for direction. The sun never goes to your south, moss only grows facing south and spiders build their webs facing north.

Incase of an a emergency use STAR. STAR stands for stop, think, assess and respond. But if you're lost stop and yell.

For the weather always check the forecast. But just incase bring a windbreaker and a raincoat. Maybe even an emergency shelter just incase.

Make sure you have all these things before you go camping.

Pitureka

“Pictureka!” I shout finding the last bedtime thing. I was playing Pictureka with my dad, my brother Zayne, my dads flatmate Russell and his girlfriend Tammy. The aim of the game is to have the most cards. Russell rolled the dice. It was blue.  We had to find a bowl of noodles with a ying-yang on it. Then I remember that was on the card in front of me.
“Pictureka!”

Next it was Tammy’s turn. It was red. Red means we all had to take a card and the first person to find something written on a card wins. We all took a card. We all had to find a wobbly thing. Straight away I found a wobbly saw but I didn’t say pictureka so Zayne got it.
Then Zayne rolled the dice and it landed on green. Zayne rolled the dice again it landed on 5. Zayne had to find 5 paper things before time ran out. He found a letter, a paper plane and a book before time ran out. So he didn’t get the card.

Then it was the last card. We had to find underpants. I remembered it was on my card on a baby but it had been moved. I saw it on a different card but I was too late. Dad got the card.

The scores were Zayne with 9 cards in 5th place, Russell in 4th place with 10 cards, I finished with 11 cards in 3rd place, Tammy ended up with 12 cards in 2nd place and dad in 1st place with 13 cards.
